I cannot access the net during storms as it puts my modem at risk. I apologize to anyone who worried about me because of this
Where the tornadoes hit in Joplin is just North of us. We are fine, but we keep our neighbors there in our thoughts and prayers.
I told my bf that this organization already exists, but I don't think it does. However, I think it would be an excellent idea. It is called "Idiot Helpers". What they would do is go to where there has been a disaster and help the idiots who went there unprepared thinking they were going to help. Rather than the government emergency services who are there providing these people with the things they need to survive, such as blankets and tents, ect. that were meant for the people who were left without by the disaster, they would. While they have them in there "grasp" they would educate them on how they could have helped more by staying away and just donating to the charities who are there and qualified to help.
There was a woman on the radio yesterday who said that her husband had been called there as an EMT driver. These drivers were having a difficult time transporting the disaster victims to where they needed to be for medical treatment because people had come to Joplin from all over either intending to help or searching for their loved ones. It was pure chaos. The people who didn't need to be there where blocking the routes they needed to use with their cars because there was no place else to park.
There is a website now by the Red Cross.... I forgot the name but you can check it for the names of people who have checked in with them as safe and sound. I believe it would also list those who have been transported out for medical treatment or whatever and where they are, but you would have to check the website to be sure. If not, it would be another excellent idea if they would.
The best thing anyone can do who doesn't live in the area affected is stay away. I know it would be difficult if you have loved ones in the area, but you will be contacted eventually. Just know that they are being taken care of by the professionals and are probably just as anxious to let you know they are okay. The only other things anyone should be doing is donating to the local area charities and agencies who have sent people down there already. Contact them through thir websites or find phone numbers and find out how you can best help. And, as always, pray for the victims and keep them in your thoughts.
Also, find your local neighbors who do have loved ones there if you do not, and you can easily bring them comfort just by giving them someone to lean on during their stress. You could help them in such ways as help keeping track of their children and making sure they are taking care of themselves. It would not help their loved ones who finally contact them if they find out that their loved one here is in the hospital over the worry they have caused. Make sure they eat and you may even be able to answer the phone for them if they are afraid of what news is coming in on the line. Just being there to support our neighbors who are here through the devistation there helps the people there too; more than you know. Besides, this Missouri. Isn't that what we do is help our neighbors in need?
Put others needs before your own, even if it is just in small ways, as often as you can. You will be suprised how good it makes all of you feel. It may even help make this a better world for all.
Come follow the life of a 42 year old woman who hardly remembers a past but looks forward to changing her present and future.

being stupid
I have been spending all my time on Facebook playing games. I just don't really feel like working on anything else on the computer too much. I've been doing what I absolutely should on WdC, but I also could do some reviewing. I have several things in my favorites list that I told myself I was going to review. Oh well.
I also got myself back into NA. I am by no means the poster child for NA; no one is. Don't judge the program by me. I just feel an obligation to my homegroup and my family I have there. My homegroup is in a desperate situation and I can at least go to the meetings and give some contribution. I whs the bank was open today. I would replace my books (they got burned), at least my daily meditation book. Maybe I can get Bob to get me one or write a check. They need me though, and I am a sucker when someone needs me, depending on who it is (you see I didn't stay with my Mom though she needed me).
I have also been sort of working on crafts. I work on my crocheting (currently a blue baby blanket) while I watch TV sometimes.
I have been working on my spirituality. I have been researching Wiccan sites online and have gotten several new things for rites, including a garment to do them in, a drum, and several things for my altar. I also planted herbs (which someone reminded me this month is Beltane which is the Wiccan time to plant. Hey, I was going to look up what was this month because I didn't know, yet I did what was suggested. Pretty good, Egh?).
I guess this isn't so stupid after all.
I want to thank all who have started to follow my blog here. Please, comment. You are never going to offend me by any means and I value your input.

Earning money online warning
Just resigned up for several survey sites. Be careful which you sign up for. A lot of their surveys require credit card information and some of them sell their client lists to other companies.
If you find one that is unscrupulous, please look up The Better Business Bureau or some other reporting agency online and please report them. We should all work together to keep our fellow surfers and ourselves from being scammed and spammed.
Thanks
